WCE Calgary was thrilled to partner with PCL, Stantec, and The City of Calgary for an engaging walking tour of the Sunnyside Flood Barrier, one of Calgary’s most important climate resilience projects. This guided experience took participants along the newly constructed barrier to learn how the City is protecting the Sunnyside community from future flood risks while enhancing public spaces and preserving the neighbourhood’s character.

Led by project experts from PCL, Stantec and the City of Calgary, the tour explored the design, engineering, and environmental considerations behind the barriers , including how it integrates with the Bow River pathway and supports long-term flood mitigation goals. Following the tour, the group headed to Alforno Bakery & Cafe for a social gathering and opportunity to connect with neighbours, chat with project experts, and continue the conversation over food and drinks.
